Osheen Harruthoonyan currently lives and works in Toronto as a photographer and film maker. Drawing upon his rich experiences living in Tehran , Athens and Vancouver , he addresses subjects of memory and the deconstructive process of time. All black and white prints are created and printed by alternative processes achieved in a traditional wet darkroom.
These prints are part of a larger body of work entitled Elephants . The series is about the disintegration and abstraction of memories and reality as a result of dementia, time lapse, or circumstance. Each individual print is based on this idea or is directly related to a particular disorder.
The prints were created by chemically manipulating medium format negatives. In a wet darkroom, during various printing stages, they underwent further manipulation to attain the final result. All prints are done on fibre based photopaper.
