Magic Flute Diaries

BIOGRAPHY

Kevin Sullivan is the president of Sullivan Entertainment Inc., which he co-founded with partner Trudy Grant in 1979. Sullivan Entertainment is an internationally recognized producer of television series, feature films and mini-series.

A three-time Emmy award-winner, Sullivan is the creative force behind Sullivan Entertainment's critical and commercial success. His stature as a producer of beautifully executed period movies and television series has attracted international investors and stars to his productions. Sullivan is not only a prolific film producer but a writer and director of many of his own films.

Sullivan's love of photography began as an undergraduate at the University of Toronto where he graduated in 1979 with Bachelor of Science in Biology. During this time he also pursued an interest in Art History and Baroque Architecture and spent several months pursuing field studies in Austria and Bavaria; specifically photographing and analyzing many of the sumptuous churches, palaces and monasteries.

This interest in the 18 th century specifically inspired his desire to create a very personal and contemporary feature film of Mozart's classic opera “The Magic Flute” and brought these photos to the gallery today.

Telling stories through pictures has been a lifelong pursuit - for over twenty years I have been transfixed by light passing through celluloid film, says Kevin Sullivan. The imaginary worlds that I have created shamelessly reflect my love of art and its ability to allow the viewer to transcend the ordinary.

Kevin Sullivan is known around the world for creating Canada's most watched television, having produced Canada's highest rated mini-series, television movie and television series of all time. He has produced over 350 hours of lavish films and programming that have been watched in over 150 countries around the world.

Highlights from his catalogue of film and tv include the Anne of Green Gables film trilogy, The Piano Man's Daughter based on the Timothy Findley novel, the incredibly successful television movies Butterbox Babies and Under the Piano, as well as the Emmy-award winning television series Road to Avonlea and Wind at my Back. Sullivan's beautifully executed productions have attracted outstanding performances from award-winning actors including Colleen Dewhurst, Richard Farnsworth, Christopher Reeve, Eugene Levy, Stockard Channing, Sam Waterston, Michael York, Met opera diva Teresa Stratas, Henry Czerny as well as Golden Globe winner Faye Dunaway and Oscar winners Wendy Hiller and Dianne West.
